Dharma Samaj College Aligarh is one of the reputed college in Uttar Pradesh. It is famous throughout the state due to its qualities education system, glorious
history and excellent moral values. The development of education in any college depends on the existing resources in which library play and important role.
It would not be an exaggeration to say that the library is the mirror of the reputation of the college. With the organized efforts of the management Committee
and the principal of Dharma Samaj College the dream of Universal library was realized and tireless effort were made to make it come true. From time to time,
the several efforts were made under the direction of the principals for promotion and development of the library and the form of a well organized library came

Dharma Samaj College Aligarh was established in the year 1947 and library of this college was also established in the hall located adjacent to the present
principal’s office. After that it was shifted to the new building (present Central Library), which was indurated by the them chief Minister, Honorable Shri
Chandrabhanu Gupta on September 9,1962. In the session 1970-71, one more floor was constructed on the top of this building. In the session 1976-77 a four story
storage room was constructed parallel to this two story building on the side of Dharma Samaj Inter College. In the session 1986-87 due to lack of space,
in addition to this Central Library, Science, Commerce, Law, Teacher Education were transferred from the central library.
Today the central library is functionable in well organized structure of 4 story building. There are tow separate study rooms for girls and boys.
The study room on the ground floor is fully airconditioned to study for 300 Boys students at a time. Adjacent to this study hall a toilet room has also been
established for the students. As the same on the first floor are separate study hall for the girls student established with air conditioned facility along
with female toilet on the same floor. Both the study hall have proper arrangement for electricity, water, sanitation and books for student. In science
library there is a blook-bank scheme for poor students. Through this book bank, the books are provided to the poor students for deposited after the
examination at 15% of the price of the book.
Many librarians have actively contributed to the development and conservation of the library after 1947.
The first librarian Shri Ram Chandra Saxena, made his special contribution in preserving the library from July 5, 1940 to
Aug 31, 1975. DrBrij Kishore Sharma made his contribution to the library from Dec 20, 1975 to Apr 16, 1993.
Shri Ram Kishan Sharma contributed as an acting librarian from Apl 16, 1993 to 1996. In 1996 he become full fiedges
librarian and continued his services in sussequal year till 2005. Apart from there deputy librarian Mr. R.C. Singh,
Gyancendra Agrawal, Yogendra Kumar Sharma, PyarelalSantetc have contributed to the library in different periods.
The library of this college was started with about 2000 books in the year 1964 - 65 and at present the number of books is increased about 1,50000
besides this, The law library and library of self- finance courses are established in separate building “RaiBadri Prasad bhawan’ in association
there are 13 departmental libraries are also functional in the college and students and teacher get books for study from there departmental libraries
The Management Committee has paid special attention to the development of library with the co-operation of the principal from time to time.
As a result the library of DS College is counted among the excellent libraries of Uttar Pradesh. It become completely digital today and it
is function able with (KOHA) software. The accession is completely based on installed (KOHA) software. The library also provide faculty to
researchers to research e-book and research journalthroughOPAC in KOHA software.
The college become an excellent can we for research programmers to promote research on various subjects. Many researchjournals arealso published physically.

Different magazines like daily, monthly and annual are ordered for the students by the library and made available to the students free of cost students are
benefitted in a proper way as there books help the students in their preparation for practical exams. Students are able to achieve unprecedented success
in competitive examination every year. There are about 75 magazines which are being ordered for the study of students and researchers in the college.

Special attention is paid to arrange and maintain their magazines as a result many ancient magazines and album books are even present in the library

Newspapers secant operates independently in the library
At present 19 copies of the newspapers both in Hindi and English language are being proceeds for the reading room in the library.Newspapers of previous year are kept safely in good condition by the library. Along with general education, air conditioned Ambedkar Learning Centre and Patel Learning Centre are also established in the library.
